Cookies are also commonly used to target advertising at a user based on their browsing history.
European law regulates cookies. The devil is very much in the detail and there are a number of subtle aspects to consider. Regulators are also increasingly enforcing the rules about cookies and have imposed significant fines in some cases for compliance failures. And litigation is on the rise too with some large class actions and lots of nuisance claims based on cookies law non-compliance.
The core service consists of a 1-hour call via Teams or Zoom with one of our team where we will go through what you need to know and practical recommendations for what you should do next. We’ll tailor the session to your website which we’ll look at together on the call. We will go through the following step-by-step (with plenty of time for questions):
- Cookie categorisation – the types of cookies
- Consent – what this means and how this needs to be set up: timing, consent mechanisms (pop-up boxes, browser settings & cookie walls), third parties, consent withdrawal & renewing consent or preferences
- Transparency – what you need to say about cookies: clear and comprehensive information (including identification of third parties)
- Enforcement, sanctions and compensation claim risk
The session is about practical compliance – it is not about making an in-depth legal analysis nor is it about the technology side of cookies.
The cost of the Cookies Clinic core service call is £1250.
If you wish to take things further after the call we can either create a cookies policy for you or review your existing cookies policy if you already have one. In addition we can review your cookies banner. We can also provide you with a cookies checklist, which could be used as the basis of an internal cookies audit. These items would be priced separately, according to your requirements.
