In this edition of Cordery Head to Head @ Home Cordery’s Jonathan Armstrong talks to Professor Eric Sinrod from his home in California.
They reflect on Jonathan’s recent guest lectures at two of Eric’s university classes and the history of cybersecurity law in the UK & US.
Jonathan looks at the role of Prince Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh in the UK’s first cybersecurity law & how the law has changed including the criminal offences in the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (http://bit.ly/ukdpa2018).
Jonathan questions however whether any legislation can work with current cyberthreats including ransomware and nation state attacks.
They also talk about specific threats to those involved in healthcare. Eric looks at the history of equivalent legislation in the US and some of the pressures in the US including the SolarWinds compromise. He wonders if we will see a rise in offensive capabilities.
