The next Cordery Data Breach Academy will run later in the year.
What is the Cordery Data Breach Academy?
The Cordery Data Breach Academy is a comprehensive full-day session which helps you prepare for data breach reporting under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the NIS Directive.
The Academy is run in conjunction with First Base Technologies LLP, a leading security consultancy. Experts from Cordery and First Base will use their experience of handling more than 60 breaches to simulate an attack. You will work through this detailed scenario in real-time as part of a team managing your response. The scenario will keep evolving and experts will appear throughout the day to give you more detailed information. You will be judged on your response with detailed feedback, help and guidance.
At some stage in the day each team will be expected to prepare for a live TV news interview on the breach, filmed by a professional news team in a real studio.
Who should attend?
The course will be invaluable to anyone who is likely to be part of a breach response team. That could include:
- In-house lawyers;
- Chief Information Security Officers;
- Chief Executives;
- Chief Financial Officers;
- Public relations professionals;
- Senior IT professionals; and
- Chief Compliance Officers.
Numbers will be limited to make sure that everyone has a chance to participate in the group’s decisions and so that individual feedback can be given throughout the day.
Can I bring a team from my organisation so we can work together?
Yes. You will work as a team at the Academy. You can bring a team from your organisation to work together or we can assign you to a team made up of people with different specialisms from different organisations.
What will I get out of it?
Experience teaches us that dealing with a data breach is one of the toughest things you’ll ever have to do. You are up against the clock in a rapidly evolving situation. Since we will look at the breach in real-time you will develop skills in a realistic environment. Our experience tells us that anyone who goes through this type of training reacts better in a real-life crisis.
Will I get any materials to support me?
Yes. Each delegate will get:
- FAQs on an organisation’s responsibilities under GDPR from Cordery’s GDPR Navigator.
- Detailed guidance on the security provisions of GDPR, again from Cordery’s GDPR Navigator.
- A 25-minute film with tips on responding to a security breach.
- A film of your team’s performance on TV.
- A certificate of achievement.
- A template data breach response process.
- A template data breach report form.
- A template data breach log.
Where will the Academy be held?
The Academy will be held in Central London.
How long does it last?
The Academy runs from 9am to 5pm. At the end of the day’s work there will be an optional supper with the course leaders for more feedback in an informal and relaxed setting.
