The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Europe annual conference recently took place in London (18-20 May, 2014) at the Lancaster Hotel. This is a major forum where leading in-house counsel from across Europe gather to update themselves on recent legal and professional developments, and of course network. This was also a special occasion as the ACC celebrated 20 years of its existence. The event was attended on behalf of Cordery by Jonathan Armstrong and André Bywater; Cordery was also proud to be one of the sponsors and hosted a stand in the exhibition area. Cordery took the opportunity to seek the views of delegates on our range of compliance product ideas using an iPad-based survey.
According to the ACC, record numbers of people attended and it was generally agreed that the exhibition area in the Nine Kings’ Hall was the best such area used so far for an ACC conference. A packed programme of seminars on a variety of subjects took place and demonstrated that issues like the proposed new EU data protection regulation, and, dealing with corruption, are still very much hot compliance topics. The event was topped off by a gala dinner in the dazzling premises of Banqueting House in Whitehall – all in all an excellent event.
